Mont Albert & Surrey Hills Rail Crossing Removals

RAILWAY LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL PROJECT

The Surrey Hills Progress Association (SHPA) recently met, with Paul Hamer MP in attendance, to discuss the planned rail project centred on removing the level crossings at Mont Albert and Surrey Hills.

Although no construction dates have been set, concept plans are currently being prepared by the Level Crossing Removal Project team (LXRP) with future information sessions and public consultation promised.

Anticipating this and believing it represents a 100-year opportunity to involve Boroondara and Whitehorse Councils in an integrated strategy for enhancing Surrey Hills and Mont Albert, the SHPA has drawn up a set of expected community consultation principles and early ideas. A summary of these will appear in the October edition of the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood News. This is drawn from a larger document, as attached. It is anticipated that as soon as it is allowed, SHPA will hold a public meeting to further gather community response. In the meantime anybody wishing to contribute more ideas or comments is invited to send them to shpa3127@gmail.com
