About Surrey Hills & Mont Albert
Surrey Hills is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located eleven kilometres east of Melbourne's Central Business District. It falls within the Cities of Boroondara and Whitehorse.
Settled in the late 19th century many of Surrey Hills' streets are lined with mature trees, mostly plane, pin oak and camphor laurel trees creating the leafy look that took nearly a century to achieve.
Early housing of the Victorian, Federation and Edwardian periods are a feature of the suburb together with interwar styles and more modern and contemporary buildings of the last fifty years.
In 2017 the Association expanded its coverage to include Mont Albert from the former WERA group.
Union Road, Surrey Hills and Hamilton Street, Mont Albert feature historic commercial precincts within the vicinity of the two railway stations.
